How to play

1. Read the statement Each card shows a football trivia statement. Some include a photo, country flag, or emoji. Decide if it is true or false.
2. Swipe or tap Swipe right or tap ✓ for true. Swipe left or tap ✕ for false. If you don't swipe far enough, the card snaps back.
3. Beat the clock You have 12 seconds per card by default. The timer ring turns red in the last 2 seconds. In the last 4 seconds you hear one tick per second.
4. Scoring Correct answers add points and grow your streak. Wrong answers reset the streak. Running out of time costs −1 point. At streak 5+ correct answers score 2×; at 10+, 3×. Rare 2× BONUS cards double points on a correct answer.
5. Sets and stars Each round is 10 cards. Stars for the set: 9–10 correct = ★★★, 7–8 = ★★, 5–6 = ★. Your best stars per category are saved in your browser.
6. Pick a category Choose 2026 global championship or another theme on the home screen. Categories without enough questions show Soon.
7. Daily challenge One category is marked Today each day. Finish a set in that category with at least ★ to complete it. Resets at midnight on your device (local time). Open /?daily=1 to jump straight into today's challenge.

What do Rookie / Solid / Pro / Legend mean?

After each set you get a tier based on how many you got right: Rookie (0–4), Solid (5–6), Pro (7–8), Legend (9–10). Your best daily challenge score is saved for the yesterday recap on the home screen.

Is this an official football app?

No. Kickoff Trivia is an independent fan-made trivia game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any international or national football governing body, sports federation, club, league, federation, or tournament organizer. All trademarks belong to their respective owners. Tournament and club names are used only for nominative identification of trivia topics.

Do I need an account?

No. Progress (stars, streaks, daily challenge) is stored in your browser's local storage. Clearing site data resets progress.

How do I share my score?

After each 10-card set, tap Share result on the score screen. On mobile this opens your device's share sheet; on desktop the result is copied to your clipboard. You can also share the quiz link from the home screen.

Why do I see the same photo sometimes?

Quiz photos come from a licensed Wikimedia Commons pool. We only use Public Domain, CC0, CC BY, or CC BY-SA files — never "non-commercial" (NC) or Wikipedia "fair use" images. Creator and license appear under each photo; CC licenses link to the deed.

Photos, ads, and copyright

We may show Google AdSense ads. Those scripts load only after you Accept our cookie notice. We exclude non-commercial (NC) Creative Commons assets from the quiz image pool. Club names and trivia are nominative use only. See Privacy Policy for cookies, ads, and opt-out links.

Advertising and cookies

Gameplay progress is stored in your browser only. Essential only plays the quiz without ad cookies. Accept loads optional third-party scripts described in our Privacy Policy. In the EU/UK, Google may show additional ad consent choices when AdSense is enabled.

Why does a category say "Soon"?

That theme does not have enough questions yet. Try Mixed or 2026 global championship.

Where do the facts come from?

Open datasets (OpenFootball, open-source fixtures) and sports metadata APIs. We do not use news feeds or undocumented images. See Privacy and our content policy in the project docs.
